American Flag wreath!

Soo...today I was feeling very crafty..okay I have been feeling like this all week!! I actually have made something new every day this week! But today I wanted to make a new wreath for our front door. My awesome cousin Courtney informed me that tulle was half off right now at Hobby Lobby!!

The closest one to us is about 30-40 minute drive, but since I was really wanting a new one I made the drive down! On the way home almost had a heart attack because right after I passed a cop he swung out..lucky for me it was the guy in front me going way too fast..whew!!

Anyways..I am not sure if any of you had seen these tulle wreaths that everyone seems to be making! Well today I am one of everyone! So here I am to share with you on how I did it, and you can take it as advice or if you are just too lazy to make one you can order one from my cousin Courtney by clicking here ---> Courtney's site She is a perfectionist when it comes to her work so it is well worth the money people!! Plus you are support a local business and not some big blue box company!!

Now, for those of you who want to venture out and make your own you will need a few things before you start your project!

You will need:
Tulle
depending on how many colors and how close together you like your tulle id get at least 25 yrds of each color! 3.99 for 25 yards at hobby lobby(plus half off this week!)
Styrofoam wreath(I used 14")
Scissors
A board or cardboard about 12-14" long
Optional:
whatever you want to hot glue gun to your wreath, in my case I used stars!

Now to start off you will need get a board or cardboard piece that measures anywhere from 12-14 inches, I used a wood piece I had left over from another project!

You are going to need to wrap the tulle over and under do it covers the board, you will wanna do this twice at first to make sure its the length you like! After that do it as many times as possible where you can still cut it, then cut the top and bottom so have a pile of tulle! As you can see I went ahead and did the white and red because that is what I used the most of!

Next you are going to want to tie the tulle to the wreath, I just wrapped it around so it was even on both sides, and double knotted it! I did my blue first since I only needed about a quarter of blue! I did however tie a few red on first to make sure I liked the length! I had 100 yards of red an only 25 of blue so I didn't want to waste any blue just in case!
Tie them on just like this! If you want them longer than that you will need to cut them longer, so hopefully you tested the length out before cutting a bunch out!!

After doing the blue, I just did red and white over and over. Now I didn't like them too close together so I ended up not using too much tulle at all. Some people like them pushed very close together. It is all up to you and your liking! So if you like them closer, expect to use more tulle!

After about an hour and fifteen minutes it was done. I know like it seems forever, but it really did not take that long at all! This is what it looked like almost finished

I just trimmed up the lengths to they were all pretty even, and again I am not too picky on that part so it wasn't a huge hassle!

After that I took out my wooden stars that I bought- painted them white and wrote our last name on them! I bought 5 stars so one letter on each star! Fairly easy task! You can do whatever you want though, I have seen everything! Make sure you use a hot glue gun to put them on though!! It is the best and will actually last!!
ahh yes my pretty glue gun..haha!

Once I was done gluing I let it sit about 10 minutes to dry completely! Just to be safe ya know! After that I cut a long piece of the white tulle to use for hanging the wreath! And like magic I was finished!!

TaDa!! It is done! What do you guys think?!

Happy Halloween( a days late)

Happy Halloween Everyone!! I know I am a tad late on posting this but eh what are you gonna do about it!! LOL

For Halloween Jake and I did some pumpkin carving!! We may not of had the most creative idea's but we still had fun doing it! After our carving we cleaned up the seeds then roasted them!!

Sadly though, on the actual night of Halloween .No kids came to our house :( We even lit up our pumpkins  and kept the porch light on! I suppose it has to do with the fact we live around a bunch of college students...darn! Maybe next year!

Creamy Avocado and Roasted Tomato pasta!

Hey All!! I know I have been slacking a bit bunch on my blog, but I promise I will update it all this week!! I still have some awesome pictures and a blog saved from Connor's first birthday party!! Ah what a cutie he has grown to be..

Anyways last night I made a very very tasty Avocado Pasta and a few friends asked me to share the recipe! So here I am to share with you all, now I found this recipe on pinterest a few weeks ago, but I cannot remember from who..so I apologize if it is yours an I am not giving you the credit! I did tweek it a bit, for two reasons..one I didn't have all the ingredients and two I wasn't a fan of all the ingredients haha!

Sorry if my pictures aren't all that, I was just trying to be a pro just snapping them on the great iphone haha!

Creamy Avocado and Roasted Sauteed Tomato Pasta
4 servings of Angel hair pasta, or whatever pasta you like
12-16 grape tomato's
4 tbsp olive oil
2.5-3 ripe avocado's(I used 3)
2 garlic cloves (minced garlic will work too)
1//2 tsp salt
2 tbsp lemon juice
Parmesan cheese
Chicken or Shrimp(you can add whatever protein to if that you seem fit, I used chicken)
2 chicken stock cubes(again optional)

To start, I preheated the oven to 400, topped my chicken with olive oil, salt, pepper and some garlic salt. Stick it in the oven so it cooks while you are making the pasta!

To start off, I added the two chicken stock cubes to water and brought them to a boil. Add your pasta(I used wheat so it cooks a tad longer than regular) I like the chicken stock because it gives the noodles that extra kick!

While pasta is boiling add the avocado's, garlic, salt and lemon juice to the food processor. Pulse until it is a nice creamy mixture, you can leave a few chunks in there, I did! As you can see I also added a little bit of Tastefully Simple's season salt, just to give it a little more flavor. Totally up to you on that one!

Next I cut my tomato's into quarters, added a little olive oil, salt and pepper, and garlic salt and sauteed them. While the recipe is called roasted tomato I should of said sauteed haha!

See..ahh so pretty!!

About this time your pasta should be done, strain it and put it into a bowl or back in the pot! I left a little of the chicken stock in the pasta to make it a little more tasty(plus it helps in mixing all together)

Add your avocado mixture and tomato's to the pasta and mix well. If you opted out of leaving some water you will probably need to mix a tad in or maybe add some olive oil for ease! It isn't the easiest to mix it all together so I recommend adding the avocado mixture first then the tomato's!

Now at this point my chicken was done as well! I took it out, added it to the plate and Volia! I had the best avocado pasta I have ever had!!
Sprinkle some Parmesan cheese on there and you have yourself dinner! I must say this was very tasty, I had left over's for both Jake and I to bring to work tomorrow today!

Hope you all enjoy it! Let me know what you think, and if you stumble upon this and you know the original post please share so I can share :)

Happy Birthday Jacob!!

Today is my lovely husbands 24th birthday!! Happy Birthday Love!! So sadly, he is not in town today :( He is out training up in Jax for the week!! But we did get a chance to celebrate his big day with some friends over the weekend!! Saturday night we went out to dinner with The Pratz's and Welter's- By some amazing miracle Zach got Jake to take a few shots!! I had to giggle because we all know Jake is not a drinker by any means!!

We ended up having a great night! Sunday Jake and I celebrated his birthday with just the two of us! The day before I had given him almost all his gifts! I waited to give him the BIG one until last minute!! So I got him a birthday cake and sang said happy birthday to him! haha

And at this point I am sure he somewhat knew what he was about to get!! For anyone who knows Jake knows he has been wanting a keyboard for God knows how long!! I have kept putting it off and putting it off because they aren't cheap and I don't see him playing it all that much...

Well I caved in this time...
One very Happy Birthday Boy right here!!
Although we didn't get to spend your actual birthday together my love, I sure hope you had as amazing of a day you could while working :) I love you my less than three

Canyon's Zip Lining!!

Today has been an amazing day!! We woke up this morning and wanted to do something fun and adventurous. So while Jake made us some breakfast I did a little googling on what to do, and saw they have zip lining about 30 minutes from our house!!

So we called and made an appointment to find out it was half off today!! Only means one thing..

IT WAS MEANT TO BE!!!

So, after our morning work out we went down I-75 to Ocala, Florida! It was pretty much right off the interstate, very easy to find!

We signed out the paperwork and waited for our instructors! We were in a group of 5, it was us and a family of 3..very friendly people and entertaining to spend the day with!

We were about to head off with Jones and Jose, who very hilarious instructors who made the day so much fun!! It was an amazing day to say the least!! We went on 7 zip lines and two walking bridges and ended it by repelling down a tree to finish the day!

Out of all of them I think our favorite was the longest and fastest one(of course it would have been!) It is the fastest and longest zip line in Florida! We averaged about 40mph and it was over a large body of water!! It was pretty fun!!

All in all I recommend everyone try this out at least once in your life! We survived and didn't even get the flesh eating bacteria :) The Canyon Zip lining tours was an awesome and the customer service is amazing!! Check them out HERE!!

After our exciting day of Zip Lining we took a 10 minute drive down to Hobby Lobby!!! I love this store almost as much as my fabulous cousin Courtney does :) We were looking for frame holders for our photo albums and not only did we find them..but they were 50% off!! Winning for us!! We also got some cute crosses on sale and a new serving tray for our ottoman! All around a good score for us!

A little sneak peak of our new house..I will be posting all the pictures this week when the furniture we ordered gets in :)

Lololly North Park Hike

Today Jacob and I decided to get out and do some hiking around the parks here in Gainesville! We went to Lololly North Park, its a 70 acre wooded park following a creek! The creek isn't your ideal creek, it was some brownish red color! Very odd but none the less it was a great day! We went off the trail and ended up walking around just about 4 miles today. Jacob was convinced he would see an alligator but we did not see any :( We did however see huge spiders..huge isn't a big enough word for how big they were! haha

Hopefully the picture helps, but doesnt do justice for just how huge these guys were. Jake was not a fan of them, I joked with him because he spent last year in Afghanistan but was scared of these little old spiders haha!!

All in all it was a fun day, before we left I set up the crock pot to make some a creamy chicken chile( Chile Recipe here )that I found online. You must try it, smells so good! I did change mine up a little bit though..added a few different spices instead of the ranch packet. No need for extra sodium if you dont have to :)

So that was our day today! Now were just going to have dinner and spend this last week together before Jacob has to check in for recruiting duty!! It is going to be an exciting next few months that is for sure!!

One thing I ask from the Lord, this only do I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to gaze on the beauty of the Lord and to seek him in his temple.

Glade Expressions Collection!

As many of already know, I am a BzzAgent! I take survey's online and get sent different campaigns according to my survey's. Well right now I am trying out the new Glade expression collection! I had both the oil diffuser and the fragrance mister! I am so much in love with the scents too!! They are so inviting and the mixture of scents work out so wonderful!

For the oil diffuser I have the pinneapple and mangosteen and with the mister I have the cotton and Italian mandarin scent! I love the way they look too..they are not your typical Glade product! They actually have a sleek look and go with so many different style of decors!

I have coupons for $4 off the starter kit for the oil and $2 off the mister! If you want one let me know and I can get you them!! Trust me you will want these in your home!!

Florida Living!!

Ahh the sun is always shining down in this state!! As you all know it has been just over a week since we made the big move from North Carolina to Florida!! Let me tell you about how awesome it is here...

WE LOVE IT!!!

What is not to love?! It is so nice outside, the sun always makes an appearance, the people here are so darn friendly too!! Within 10 minutes of living here we had already met a few of our neighbors! Everyone in general is just so friendly and caring..a huge change from Camp Lejeune!!

So a lot has happened in this short week here in Florida! We are all unpacked and just about set up (my craft room is what I will be tackling today)! This house is way bigger than our last so we had to go out and get a few things here and there to add to our home. I have been on a bar stool search since I found this house about 6 weeks ago. Yesterday we finally managed to find four stools we loved..and got a killing for them too!! Score one for us- now since our house is bigger we needed to add some sort of chair or recliner to our living room collection. A search for recliners fell short and we ended up caving in and buying the matching oversized swivel chair that matches our set..its 58' around!!! Talk about a great napping chair when it comes in!!

I also went down to Orlando a few days ago to check out IKEA! I spent over 3 hours in that store, well worth it too! I made a killing there as well and got some home decor and furniture to add to our home. Lets just say it has been an eventful week here!!

Now onto work related news..I had an interview at a gym last Thursday and felt I did very good at my audition and the manager seemed to really like me! Well I guess my feelings were right because on Monday they called and offered me the job!! Wahoooooo!!! After taking off exactly one year to finish school I will be starting my first real career job!! I am so excited to be putting all my knowledge into this and helping so many lives change for the better!! I am not sure on a start date but I am heading in today to fill out paperwork!! Yay go me!!

As for Jacob, he has a fun week too! While I was heading out to IKEA he decided to go check out a few high schools with the other recruiters! He had a lot of fun and looked so hot in his dress blues!! His boss said he did a great job for an on the spot presentation! So looks like we both are having good luck down here in Florida!

This follwing weekend we also went out to a cookout with all the other recruiters and their families. Got a chance to meet everyone, which was nice! Everyone is so sweet and although we are yet again the other ones without kids they do have some pretty cute children!! Cute enough to play with but not to make us one any just yet!! haha!

Well that is just about as much of a recap I can give you at this time..busy day ahead yet again.. I should have everything finished today and as soon as our new furniture is delivered I will go ahead and post new pictures!!

Gluten free protein packed breakfast bread

Hey all! I realize I've been slacking a tad on the posting! Sorry about that, been a very busy couple of months!

So this morning I have an awesome healthy breakfast idea for you! This is gluten free, low fat, sugar free(depending on the protein you use) !! Is is very delicious too! 4 ingredients and takes about 2.5 minutes to make!! I call it protein bread! While it's not actually bread you will think it is with the taste!

Protein Bread

2 scoops protein of choice(I use sugar free adds up to about 90 calories)
1 egg white
Splash of almond milk(or any milk you choose)
Cinnamon- optional

In a microwave safe bowl mix the first three ingredients together until it forms a good batter like form. It will be a tad like an egg white form! I then topped it with a dash of cinnamon.

Put in the microwave for 2 minutes and TADA!! You have yourself a low far sugar free breakfast that is to die for!! It tastes just like your protein and it's a better way to take in protein than always drinking it :)

Try it out today and let me know what you think!! I'm thinking next time of adding some mashed banana or mixed fruit into the mix!!

Enjoy your Monday ladies and gents <3

Tips for a flatter stomach :)

This is me 3 years ago, sure I wasn't the biggest person but I was sooo out of shape and so very much in need of a flatter stomach!! So here are some awesome tips on what I have done over the years to help get to where I am today!

As we all know, its our life long goal to have that flat hard stomach and look our best all year round!! But there is always that stubborn belly fat that never wants to go away..no matter what!! Well let me share a few tips and tricks on helping you get that flat stomach you've always worked so hard for!!

For starters, this isn't going to be a magical trick that bam over night you are looking like a model, it takes time and you are going to have to get sweaty! Remember if you look good after your gym work then you didn't work hard enough!!

1. Don't skip breakfast!! Most important meal of the day, you need those calories to jump start your body and help your metabolism get going!

2. Drink a glass of water before each meal!

3. Don't skip meals!

4. Eat 5-6 small meals a day

5. Cut out any sugary drinks! Water is your best friend, so drink on up all day long!!

6. Eat slowly, this isn't a race! Take your time, if you have issues with over eating pacing yourself will go a long way!

7. Posture!! Always sit up straight and hold in that core!! That is one of the worst problems is remembering to sit up and hold in that core!

8. Do cardio 30-60 minutes at least 3-4 times a week!! You need cardio to help burn fat, so mix cardio in with your weight training :)

9. Cut out sweets, sugar can be your worst enemy when it comes to belly fat!

10. Reduce your salt, too much salt can cause swelling!

11. Cut down your alcohol intake!! Drinking too much can get you that "beer belly" and not the type of 6 pack you want!!

12. Avoid fast food!! Most fast food places are full of sodium and processed foods, if you have a craving for something make it at home!

13. Cut down your wheat intake! I know whole grain wheat is good for you, but it is always the number one cause of excess belly fat!! Try going gluten free for a few days of the week, I can almost bet you will see a difference!

14. Color your plate!! Remember you need lots of veggies and fruits along side your protein!

15. Avoid stress- may be hard but if you start to stress over something go for bike ride or a run or a walk! It will help ease the stress!!

16. Get 7-8 hours a sleep each night. You won't believe how much better you feel with a well rested body!

17. Don't starve yourself!!!! I cannot stress this one enough- you will end up losing muscle and gaining fat because your body will store any food it gets!! Remember to eat every 2-4 hours people!

18. Don't isolate your stomach! Remember you cannot just do crunches and think you will be okay! You need full body weight training along with cardio!!

19. Abs are made in the kitchen! Ever heard this phrase?! Well its true, you can workout all day long but if you are eating junk you are not helping your stomach one bit!! Eat a healthy well balanced meal!

20. Enrich your diet with fiber :)

21. Planks!! We all hate them but they do wonders for a stomach- if you can only hold it for a few seconds work your way up! Remember quantity over quality!

22. Super fruits and veggies! Make sure you are taking those wonderful super fruit and veggies to help :)

23. Swim!

24. Run! Running is one of the best ab workouts you can do, as long as you are doing it correctly :)

25. Avoid diet pill fads! There is no cure all magic pill that "melts" away fat! You need to work for it! But I promise when you are done it will all be worth it!!

Well ladies and gents, here you are! Just a few tips to help you get closer to that flat lean stomach you've always been wanting!! Do not give up, you can do it!! Until next time..

"Do not be afraid, you who are highly esteemed," he said. "Peace! Be strong now; be strong." When he spoke to me, I was strengthened and said, "Speak, my lord, since you have given me strength."
Daniel 10:19

Update!

Good morning all!! I know it has been just at 2 months since my last blog!! I apologize it has been a very busy and hectic two months!! Where do I begin..

Well for starters we moved out of our house in NC and packed everything in storage! Jake will be starting recruiting school in July- for now we are apart! I am down in Georgia with family and he is busy up in NC still staying with friends. I am so excited because I am heading back up this weekend to see him before he goes off to Cali for the remaining summer. My little sister Brittany will be spending a week with us once I get there, pretty excited to see her!

In other news, Jake just spent the last week an a half in Baltimore, MD on the USS San Antonio for fleet week! While he may not of enjoyed his static display at times, it sounds like he had a good time up there! Little jealous because I've never been haha! Meanwhile, I have been training a great friend down here in GA and sad to leave but excited to start training more clients again back in NC! I will be staying in NC the remaining part of the summer with friends, so I can focus more on working and getting in beach time of course :)

Well, that sums up whats been going on..oh I should mention since my last post Jake and I ran a 12 mile mud run with some friends, I ran a 5 mile mud run on Stone Bay with a gal from bible study and I just ran the Never Quit Never 5k down in Jacksonville, FL with some awesome friends! I will post more on the races later this week!!
